The interface accepts NMEA 0183 data from navigation instruments, sensors or interfaces, and converts it into one 4 to 20 mA current loop drive. 

4 to 20 mA is an industrial standard commonly used to drive analogue indicators (DIN144 for example), PLCs, data loggers and chart recorders. (It can drive moving coil analogue meters.)

Applications are converting ships heading and rate of turn to 4-20 mA, echo sounder, rudder angles, engine RPM, or RPM and pitch. An option selection switch allow new options to be added, retaining the previous ones. Contact us with your exact requirements.

The interface can be used for a VOLTAGE OUTPUT (0 to 10v) instead of current loop. Applications could be to turn SPEED into millivolts per knot. 

INPUT:
1 NMEA 0183 port.
Accepts data appropriate to option switch.

 

OUTPUT:
4-20 mA output channel. 10 volts maximum, therefore 500 ohms highest resistance load.
ACCURACY: typically 0.5 %.
The output is electrically isolated from ground and power.
0 mA output if input data absent or invalid.
