DATA ON SCREEN INTERFACE, model 2100
The A2100 interface intercepts a camera's video signal and overlays data on it. The purpose is (usually) to record latitude, longitude and other useful data, for later analysis, or to be able to return to places of interest.
The interface is connected to a GPS or nav-aid to receive the basic data. It is a simple and reliable device with no user controls, although options exist to personalise it for the user. Operation is entirely automatic. NO PC IS INVOLVED!
Data appears (typically) at the bottom or top of the screen. The picture above shows UTC time, date, position and DGPS (2) status. The pictures here have been captured by PC from VHS cassette and show Bob Williams working in rather murky water.
The data is permanently overlaid on the video. Replay can be from any VCR: the interface is not needed on replay.
