The Forty Eight Step Retransmission unit receives heading data
from a gyro or magnetic compass in NMEA 0183.
The output controls two-pole stepper motors which operate at 48 steps per revolution. Such motors are an industrial standard and used in repeaters made by Plath and other manufacturers.
APPLICATIONS are in a retrofit, to allow a new gyro to be fitted whilst retaining the existing repeaters.
