KW903 ELECTRONICS This product is a real success story & sold in quantity to TOKIMEK JAPAN, LITTON MARINE worldwide, SG BROWN UK, MICROTECHNICA, and many dealers. Applications are to refit a ship with a new gyro, whilst retaining all the existing repeaters. If you want to make a retrofit competitive think of the 903!

HEADING INPUT: The KW903 connects to NMEA, stepper systems, and the "90X 400 Hz contactless synchro" found in several gyros. (Make money. The gyro's own high power stepper RTU is not needed.)

BACK-UP by NMEA 0183 heading from a second gyro or a electronic compass. Here we have a simple TMC system.

SYNCHRO OUTPUT: The "standard" and most common output is nominally 115v (50/60 Hz) reference, 90v line to line maximum voltage. The KW903 has several transformer taps to allow selecting reduced voltage, and by this means "non standard" voltages are obtained. E.g. for Kurs 4, and Plath Navigat gyros. Anshutz repeaters require an extra transformer box to bring the 90v signals down to 20 or 24v.

500 Hz AMUR REPEATERS: A "transformer adapter" is used, and it works!

YOKOGAWA GYROS used a DC supply to the synchros, but they were still 115v/90v AC synchros, and the KW903 has happily been used with them! Check the synchro type first. A 24v illumination supply is also required.

KW903-SP SPECIFICATION

INPUT 1:

	Stepper 4 to 35 volt stepper. + or - steps. Fit external series resistor for higher voltage.
	90x 400 Hz "contactless synchro transmitter." (As fitted in many low cost gyros. 6 terminals.)
	OR NMEA 0183 gyro heading.

INPUT 2:

NMEA 0183 heading, magnetic or gyro. Yes, it accepts variable length sentences.

SYNCHRO SIGNAL OR PHASE OUTPUT:

	Output for nominal 115v ref, 90v synchro, or 110v ref, 55v signal at 0.5 amp.
	50v ref, 68v signals. Or various in-between.
	Anshutz 50/60v ref 20/24 v signals with additional transformer adapter box.
	Low voltage for AMUR 500 Hz repeaters, used on 50/60 Hz with adapter box.
	Signal output removed if overcurrent detected.
	SPECIFY YOUR OUTPUT ON YOUR ORDER PLEASE.

REFERENCE OUTPUT:

	Reference output 2 Amp.
	Fit external transformer if more current is required.

ALARM RELAY:

	Open when ok. Closes on power failure or if alarm is disabled.
	Pulses when the KW903 detects gyro fault, or output overload.

CONTROLS:

	Input 1, Input 2 change-over switch. Alarm cancel/on/off switch
	Main on/off switch.
	Rotation rate and test select hex switch.

POWER ETC:

	Nominal 110/220 v 50/60 Hz at 600 VA. Earth is essential.
	Grey painted electrical cabinet with door for indoor bulkhead mounting.
	Size, 400 wide x 500 high x 150 mm.
