The N0VA
allows GPS position data, and any other NMEA data, to be recorded
on the audio channel of a video cassette recorder.
Camera video is recorded as normal. It is a means of recording ship-data alongside video image, for example bridge activity, underwater camera, oil pollution survey, view ahead of the ship concerning collision avoidance. The second audio channel can record voice.
On replay the VCR outputs video, audio, and ship NMEA data in synchronisation. With the video on TV and the data feeding a chart plotter the two screens provide a complete picture of the vessel's activity. There is an option for freeze-frame replay.
Applications have been for seabed camera survey looking
for cables and seabed life survey. It can be used on land or in
the air. For sail training de-briefing, and reviewing those
critical manoeuvres the N0VA is ideal!
The N0VA does NOT overlay text on screen. Another product does that, the Data On Screen Interface. N0VA just records the data on an audio track, for recovery later as data. Please do not be confused!
