SYNCHRO POWER AMPLIFIER MODEL SA25

HMS ScottThe synchro power amplifier boosts a low power synchro transmission to a three phase load of 25VA. This is enough to drive multiple CT, CTX, TR and TRX loads. The unit operates very efficiently and derives its power from the reference supply.

A "kick" circuit in included to cause stalled Torque Receivers to drive to their null, but this is not required for CT and CDX synchros. Provision is made for "tuning" capacitors. The design of the amplifier protects itself against short circuits, overloading, supply transients, temperature and reference malfunctions.

Applications are to boost electronic synchro generators to drive real synchros, or boost low power transmitters to drive a CDX. Synchros are much used in warships. The unit was first developed for use on the UK MOD's vessel RFA ARGUS as part of the surveillance radar system.
