SHIPS HEADING DIAL REPEATER, KW908

6 inch dial repeaterNO LONGER IN PRODUCTION. It was too mechanical to make at low cost.

The instrument has a traditional 6 inch, 154 mm, diameter card. In the dark the letters appear red. A single button controls the LED illumination.

Heading is received in NMEA 0183 form, and the dial is auto-aligning. One of two LED indicators show if True or Magnetic heading is being displayed, and they flash in a fault condition. The dial has no oscillation or backlash.

The KW908 dial repeater was designed especially for AMI's TRANSMITTING MAGNETIC COMPASS SYSTEM where a dial repeater was often expected. It is now only made in batches to a client's order, as we prefer a totally solid state solution rather than electromechanical.

Alternative displays are the solid state electronic tape and digital repeater, the KW991 and KW950 which is simpler and more economical. The TMC system uses a pick-off coil and interface converting directly to digital data.
